Book + Gift Pairing Suggestions and WRAD
A variety of ideas for fun gifts to pair with my books and my World Read Aloud Day sign-up list
Would any of my books make a nice gift for someone on your list this holiday season? I’m happy to send along a signed bookplate, bookmark, and stickers to include with your gift. Email me through the contact page on my website (or reply to this email if you’re reading this newsletter in your inbox) with your address and how you would like the bookplate personalized.
The picture book promotion group I’ve been part of this year, PB Spree, will be suggesting gift pairings for our picture books on Instagram. I loved thinking about this with my own books and got carried away with ideas, so here is a collection of fun things you could gift along with one my books. (None of these are affiliate links and nobody is paying me to recommend their product. This list was compiled by me, and I did my best to link to smaller businesses, some of my favorite literary places to shop, and/or organizations I admire. Poke around on their websites and you might find some other gift ideas you like too!)
If you’re giving A Good Deed Can Grow, pair it with:
A “Be Kind” tee from Kind Cotton Kind Cotton has a mission to donate one of the books they’ve selected for their program to a child with every purchase.
A collaborative board game like Rush to Recycle or Hoot, Owl, Hoot
If you’re giving Sisterhood of Sleuths, pair it with:
Magnifying glass necklace. Here’s a less expensive option and a pricier option.
If you’re giving the Book Scavenger series, pair it with:
Reindeer antlers (this makes sense if you’ve read Book Scavenger!)
World Read Aloud Day
World Read Aloud Day is Wednesday, February 7. I had a lot of fun participating last year (and it coincided with the launch week for A Good Deed Can Grow, which was extra fun!), and I look forward to participating again in 2024. If you’d like me to read to your students and chat about books, here is my WRAD schedule and sign-up list! If the time that works for you is taken and you’d still like me to meet with your class, please reach out. I might be able to fit another slot into my day, or maybe we could plan for a time on a different day.
Good News
The Canadian Children’s Book Centre chose A Good Deed Can Grow as one of their titles for their Best Book for Kids and Teens list!
Imagination Soup’s roundup of “9 Astonishing Middle Grade Mysteries” included Sisterhood of Sleuths!
Whether this is a festive and busy time of year for you, a quiet and contemplative one, a challenging or sad season, or maybe all of the above, I wish you peace, comfort, and lots of time to cozy up with a good book.
Until next time,
Jenn
